IMO, the core is 2019 picks and after. Unlike TB, Yzerman inherited a team in much worse shape, without any future stars and bad draft luck. He has to build this team from scratch. The 'kids' need some veteran talent around them to teach them the way. That's what Larkin & Copp are for. He'll need time to develop talent in the AHL & below. He'll continue to plug in veteran talent where it makes sense until the kids become the leaders. This team competes when the core starts hitting their mid to late 20s. It's all a numbers game. Most teams are hoping for two legit, contributing NHL players per draft. Stevie has had four drafts, that's 8 players. I think the core is the top 12 to 15 players. He has several drafts, a few trades, and a lot of pain left to go.

I think Simon Edvinsson's future looks very bright judging by the few games he's played so far. He didn't look that much out of place, made some good plays, put numbers on the score sheet, and showed that despite his youth, he's not afraid to get a little physical. And he will only get bigger once he starts filling out and maybe even popping up a couple of more inches.

That kid is a tower. If he can keep getting stronger, we already have Mo who seems to have learned how to be physical within the rules/confines that is 2 very big and good skating D men

the post playoff streak ken holland years are a big waste and should not be considered towards the rebuild even though we all had to suffer through them.

yzerman cant be judged off the bad drafting of kenny but,he doesnt have forever to build this. its been what , 7 years of no playoffs. they could reach 10 years of no playoffs, easily.
